Deeply rooted in the tradition of rum production, Rhumerie de Chamarel spans 220 hectares of land dedicated to growing sugarcane. The distillery exclusively produces pure sugarcane juice rum from its estate’s plantations. During your visit, experienced guides will provide detailed explanations of the rum-making process, taking you through each step of the journey.
Crafting the Finest Rum
At Rhumerie de Chamarel, the focus is on crafting the finest rum using traditional methods and the highest quality ingredients. The rums are made exclusively from the sugarcane grown on their plantation, ensuring only the freshest and best canes are used. The freshly harvested sugarcane is transferred to the distillery within four hours to preserve its freshness and aromas. The first-pressed sugarcane juice is then filtered, and the rum-making process continues.

Designed to provide a comprehensive tourism experience, Rhumerie de Chamarel seamlessly blends with its spectacular surroundings. The building, crafted from wood, natural stone, and water, offers a sense of communion with nature, making it one of the most beautiful distilleries in the world. After your tour, indulge in a gourmet meal at L’Alchimiste, the distillery’s upscale restaurant. Specializing in unique cuisine prepared with local products sourced from the estate, the restaurant is open for lunch and afternoon tea breaks. Enjoy a selection of crepes and other pastries on the terrace while soaking in the beautiful surroundings.
